Below are samples of the many different configurations that have been used in the past.  Our modular components allow a great variety of options to install the filtration system in virtually any space for any HRV unit on the market.

Filtration System Location

All of the filter systems shown above have the fiters on the warm side of the HRV.  All the air comes in from outside, goes through the heat exchanger core, and then through the filters.  The reason we put our filter sysetms on the warm side is that it allows us to use larger filters in multiple configurations, plus it takes advantage of an HRV's recirculation option to be able to filter the air repeatedly.  A filter on the outside of the building can only filter the air one time as it enters the building. 

The filters on the inside of the home are also easier to see and access, so they are more likely to  replaced on a regular basis.
